Foot and Leg Pain in Children
Have you heard that your child’s foot or leg pain is due to “Growing Pains”? There are some people who believe they don’t exist at all. Do your child’s arms, back, and head not also grow? Why don’t they have “Growing Pains” in those body areas? In our experience, the children who were referred to us with a diagnosis of “Growing Pains” became pain-free from a simple solution we use every day.
So, what is the cause of this pain in kids’ legs that is coined “growing pains?” The vast majority of the time it’s caused by the feet. It’s rather shocking how fast kids feel great again when we address the foot condition.
Flat Feet
Most often, the child will have flat feet. This puts strain on the leg muscles, which causes pain. Orthotics (custom arch supports) is the answer. Almost 100% of the time, when orthotics are used for leg pain in kids, the pain disappears quickly.
We have had kids who couldn’t play sports or keep up with their friends playing in the neighborhood return to those activities once they started wearing orthotics. You can’t imagine the joy the parents and grandparents felt, first knowing that the condition wasn’t serious, and second, seeing their child active again.
