If Toenail Clipping Seems Like a No Brainer, Then How Did I End Up With An Ingrown Toenail
It’s all about the cut.
Follow these toenail clipping hints
Follow these toenail clipping hints to help you avoid an ingrown toenail!
CUT STRAIGHT ACROSS: For toenail clipping you want to guide the clippers straight across the nail instead of rounding them.
USE THE PROPER SIZE TOENAIL CLIPPERS: You want the large clippers for toenails and not the ones you use for your fingernails.
CLEAN YOUR CLIPPER BEFORE AND AFTER EACH USE: You want to use alcohol to clean the clippers before and after each use.
KEEPING CLIPPERS DRY WILL HELP TO KEEP THEM SHARP: Don’t keep toenail clippers in the bathroom where they can become damp and rust. This will lead to dulling of the blades which in turn will not give you a clean cut.
CUT NAILS WHEN THEY ARE DRY: Since wet nails are softer they have a tendency to tear when they are cut. If they are dry you will have a much smoother cut.
MAKE SMALL CUTS: Some nails are just too big to cut all at once so make small cuts across your nails.
DONT HAVE A CLIPPER USE A FILE: When you use a file try to go in one direction don’t go back and forth .
DON’T CUT YOUR CUTICLES: Cutting your cuticles can lead to bleeding or infection, instead use an orange stick to push them back to avoid any unnecessary damage.
Now that you know how to do toenail clipping, your toenails should look great for the summer. If for you are in the Hudson Valley and are having trouble with your nails give us a call at our Wappingers Falls Office at (845) 298-9074 and we will be glad to help you out.
