Keep Your Feet Happy For The Holidays

Standing on you feet for the holidays seems to be a must.  Here are some tips to keep your feet happy for the holidays.

Stuffing and cookies and eggnog, oh my!

One of the hardest things to control during the holiday is your diet. Many of the holiday treats and appetizers are packed with sugars.  Sugar can be harmful and dangerous to diabetic patients by causing spikes in blood glucose.  An overload of sugar can lead to foot problems like, ulcers and infections. If you aren’t careful with your diet you could have more serious long-term complications like amputations. Although the words moderation and holidays don’t seem to go together, this might be a good way to keep your feet happy for the holidays.

Diabetics aren’t the only ones who have to control their diets. People who suffer from gout attacks find every holiday a challenge. The beer, wine, red meats, and fish can cause painful gouty attacks.

Gout can have very painful symptoms.  If you begin to have pain with the touch of a bed sheet or redness on your foot give our office a call at (845) 298-9074.  We can make you a same day appointment to help relieve your pain.

Don’t Let Beauty Be Painful

Everyone likes to look their best for the holidays, but please do not do this at the expense of your feet!  Cramming your feet into those high heels and tight loafers could lead to problems down the road.

Those tight shoes can cause all types of foot problems.  We see ingrown toenails, neuromas, bunion pain, hammertoe pain just to name a few.

This holiday season, try dressing in a chic pair of sparkly shoes, lower to the ground, and with a wider toe box.  If you wear heels with a 1 to 2 inch heel, people will be jealous that your are still out on the dance floor.  Please be kind to your feet during this holiday season. Your deserve happy feet for the holidays.

Gifts

Nothing says Happy Holidays like a new pair of shoes or slippers!  Invest in your feet and the feet of the ones you love.  We have a large selection of diabetic shoes that can be worn by anyone.  These shoes are specifically made to for people who have foot problems.  Whether you have a very wide foot or even a narrow foot, we can find a shoe for you.

Feet Happy For The Holidays

Diabetic Shoes come in all shapes and sizes

One of the many complications of diabetes includes loss of sensation in your feet. The loss of sensation means they can’t feel if the have a cut or sore. They might not notice a cut which can lead to an infection. For this reason it is important to avoid walking around barefoot to prevent any further complications.

At Hollowbrook Foot Specialist, our holiday wish to you is to have healthy and happy holiday season, and through out the year.
