June is known as the most popular wedding month of the year. Being a 2017 bride myself, I understand the importance of pain-free feet at my wedding. Not only do you want to look beautiful walking down the aisle and in all the pictures you will look back on, you are also looking forward to a night of dancing!
Many brides will choose to wear higher heels for their ceremony and flat shoes for their reception. This is a great idea, because once you are dancing the night away, higher heels will put you at risk of trips and falls. This can lead to ankle sprains and even broken ankles. You can look into foldable flats that will fit into your clutch and make great gift for your bridal party.
Choosing the right shoes for the venue
When choosing a heel for the ceremony, consider the environment where you will be walking down the aisle. If you are doing a barn, farm, or outdoor wedding, there is always the risk of rain. Even if it rains a couple of days in advance, this will soften the ground. Softer ground makes a very difficult platform for stilettos and you will sink in. For these types of weddings you may want to consider a wedge. If your reception or ceremony are on grass, you may even want to advise your guests against wearing heels. If your ceremony is on cobblestone or an outdoor stone setting, you will need to avoid cracks in order to avoid trips and falls. For beach weddings, I would just go with sandals or barefoot. You can even look for something called a “barefoot sandal.” Essentially this is jewelry for your feet that looks like a thong sandal but without the bottom.
Wedding first aid kit
A wedding first aid kit is a great idea, not only for the bride, but for all attendees!
What to include in your first aid kit for your feet:
- Band-aids
- Over-the-counter blister cushions
- Tweezers
- Pain reliever
- Antibiotic ointment
