It’s summertime and who doesn’t want to let their feet see the light of day! Summertime is flip flop season, which can be bad for your feet. Find out how flip flops with arch support can save your feet.
When we see people walking around with flip flops on, they are usually the unsupportive type. You know the kind that you get at the store for $5-$10. They look real cute and you are even able to get them in different colors to match your outfits but beware. These type of flip flops are not good for your feet. Not only do they have no support but they also have little traction.
Many times I have seen people skid or hydro plane on wet surfaces. The lucky people catch themselves. The unlucky people fall and get hurt.
There are alternatives you can wear. You can choose flip flops that have a non skid sole. Some flip flops even have an arch and deep heel cup for people suffering from heel pain. We recommend Spenco Sandalsto our patients. These sandals are supportive and have non-skid soles. We like them so much we actually sell these at our office.
Stay safe this season and enjoy the summer. Make sure you are wearing the right flip flops.
