How to get Foot and Ankle Emergencies Treated Faster
Merry Christmas from all of us here at Hollowbrook Foot Specialists. We hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe Christmas season. But if you have any foot or ankle emergencies, here are some tips to help you get treated faster:
Most ER visits have a long wait
When people hurt their foot or ankle, their first instinct is to rush to the emergency room.
Obviously, if you have bones sticking out of your foot, or are bleeding profusely, the emergency room is the place to go.
However, ER wait times are usually very long. Then, after waiting for several hours, most foot and ankle emergencies get referred to a foot and ankle specialist.
Why not save yourself all that waiting and call us first.
Your emergency may not be their emergency
Emergency rooms treat the more serious cases first. What may seem like an emergency to you may be minor compared to other more serious patients. This increases your wait time.
The last thing anybody wants is to wait over two hours for emergency treatment.
ER visits cost more
Foot and ankle emergencies treated at the ER cost more than a doctor’s office visit. Hospital copays are usually higher. And, if your insurance has a high deductible, you pay even more.
So, what should you do if you experience foot and ankle emergencies?
