Do you have itchy, wet, red skin between your toes?
If you have itchy, wet, red skin in between your toes, it’s most likely an infection due to a bacteria called Corynebacterium Minutissimum. This bacteria can overgrow between your toes when a moist environment is created in the area. This usually happens when you get out of the shower and thrown on a pair of socks right away, because you have to rush out the door to get to work or an appointment, etc. When the skin gets really raw, there may be discomfort and pain between your toes.
What can you do?
- dry well between your toes after showering
- let your feet air dry for about 10 mins before putting on your socks and shoes
- use a foot powder before putting on your socks and shoes to wick moisture up
- make an appointment with us to be prescribed a medication to get rid of the Corynebacterium Minutissimum
