This weekend I marched to the beat of a lot of drums. I marched down the streets of Wappingers in the Dutchess County Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. Although it was over 2 miles, the march seemed short as I walked by the cheering crowds celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day. We were lucky with the weather, since the day before we had the Bomb Cyclone, but the streets were cleared and the crowds were there to celebrate a great day. I was holding the banner with Bill Halvey, as my other Rotarians and volunteers were handing candy out to the crowds. It was so much fun.
The Rotary Club is such a good cause. All of the money we raise goes back to our community.
Maybe your child has received one of our “Student of the Month” awards or one of our many college scholarships. Maybe your child came home with a dictionary or backpack that we donated to your school this year.
Or maybe you know a senior citizen who received a meal from Meals-on-Wheels delivered by a Wappingers Rotarian.
If you see us at Shop Rite or Stop & Shop collecting for one of the four local food pantries we help support, please take a moment to pick up a food item and drop it in our basket. We appreciate all of your support to help someone in need.
Our Rotary club is made up entirely of local community members who work together to help our community and more.
What you may not know is that our Rotary Club is just one of 33,000 Rotary Clubs in over 200 countries that make up the 1.2 million Rotarians across the globe. Wherever you are anywhere in the world, chances are there is a Rotary Club.
