Spring sports are starting back up again, and that means softball and baseball!
Whether you play women’s fast pitch softball on a team like the Hudson Valley Hurricanes, Men’s softball, or your kids play Little League Baseball on our local Dodgers, Marlins, Yankees, it’s important to make sure you and those you care about protect your ankles so you don’t get hurt!
Some people are more prone to ankle injuries than others. People with loose ankle ligaments, especially those with previous ankle sprains, can be more susceptible to ankle sprains.
Many people feel better protected when they use a sport ankle brace while playing sports because they know their ankles are secure, but there are a few things you should know before getting a sport ankle brace:
- Make sure the brace fits snuggly. If it doesn’t it might not give you enough support.
- Make sure your brace has reinforcements on both sides so it provides stability.
- Any good brace should come in different sizes, that way it will give you a better fit.
Some good ankle braces include the Gameday brace and the Aircast Airsport Brace which we have available at our office, Hollowbrook Foot Specialist in Wappinger Falls.
If you or anyone you know has any questions about ankle protection and/or ankle braces give our office a call. Our friendly staff would be happy to help! If you need an appointment, Dr. Yavor Geshev would be happy to see you!!
