Uggs are awesome – they feel so great on your feet, so warm and cuddly. It’s like wearing slippers all the time. It’s no wonder everybody has to have a pair.
But, do your Uggs smell bad? Yuk! No one wants to be near you if you have stinky smelly Uggs, no matter how good they look. Looking for a quick fix?
Here’s what you need to know.
Why do my Uggs smell bad but not my friend’s Uggs?
If your Uggs smell bad, you probably have sweaty feet – really sweaty feet.
Uggs are nice and warm, but if your feet are sweaty, then your feet will sweat even more because your Uggs are so warm and fuzzy.
Hot feet sweat more. Sweaty feet smell more, and that smell gets into your Uggs.
My feet don’t sweat that much – but my Uggs smell bad
When your Uggs get wet, ugly things like smelly bacteria and fungi can grow in your Uggs and make your Uggs smell bad. That water is usually from sweat, but if you got your Uggs wet, that can make smelly things grow in your Uggs, too.
Fake Uggs can smell worse than real Uggs
The 100% lambs wool in real Uggs is much better at pulling moisture away from your feet than synthetic lambs wool found in fake Uggs.
Don’t forget – it’s that wetness that makes your Uggs smell bad.
The Socks with Uggs Controversy
It says right on the box, no socks, so I don’t have to wear socks with Uggs, right?
If your feet sweat a lot, and your Uggs smell bad, you should wear socks with your Uggs. Socks will absorb some of the sweat and keep it away from your Uggs. The more water you keep away from your Uggs, the less chances your Uggs will smell bad.
Cotton socks, or socks with a lot of cotton in them, will absorb more moisture than a thin sock. Don’t expect a very thin sock to help stop your Uggs from smelling. Your sweat goes through a thin sock and right to your Uggs making your Uggs smell bad.
Your feet sweat more, your Uggs smell bad – you need socks!
Spray antiperspirant on your feet
Foot powder helps stop sweating. There is antiperspirant in foot powder that helps stop sweating. And foot powder also has powder than absorbs moisture. So use foot powder.
No foot powder handy? Put an underarm antiperspirant on your feet. It will probably smell better than foot powder, too.
Why you need two pair of Uggs
If your Uggs get sweaty, you have to let them dry completely before you wear them again. Otherwise, you are just making the problem worse.
It takes at least 24 hours for a pair of Uggs to dry – so you can’t wear them two days in a row.
You have sweaty feet? You love Uggs and want to wear them everyday. You need two pair of Uggs, so one pair can dry completely for 24 hours before you wear them again.
How to stop your Uggs from smelling bad
- Wash your feet with an antibacterial soap every day – it helps keep smelly bugs on your feet from getting into your Uggs
- Use foot powder or baby powder to absorb moisture and sweat
- Spray antiperspirant on your feet – even an underarm antiperspirant helps
- Use some sort of odor grabber in your Uggs – a sock with baking soda inside helps to get the smell out
- Don’t wear the same pair of Uggs every day – use two pair of Uggs
- Let Uggs dry completely before wearing them again – a cozy spot near a radiator helps
